Remembered primarily on her behalf functions of children’s literature, Brown penned The Book of Saints and Friendly Beasts; In the times of Giants; The Lonesomest Doll; and Stories of the Crimson Kids. She also had written tune lyrics, poems, has, and nonfiction functions. While participating in the Women’ Latin College (later known as The Boston Latin Academy), she was seriously associated with the creation and writing from the school’s paper The Jabberwock. She afterwards researched at Radcliffe University. In the past due 1800s and early 1900s, she had written for the St. Louis World Democrat beneath the pseudonym of Jean Neal. She and her sister and fellow article writer, Ethel Dark brown (also known with the pencil name of Ann Underhill), was raised in Boston, Massachusetts as the kids of Benjamin and Clara Dark brown. She had written a 1924 biography from the composer Edward MacDowell.
